Geneviève

Her mom says:

“Geneviève is my long awaited (7 years) answered prayer and double rainbow baby. Early on, she decided when she would meet milestones. So when potty training commenced on her second birthday I knew I was going to be in the potty trenches for awhile. For 2 years, we tried all the methods, reward charts, songs, books and visual aides.  Went thru timers/schedules, lots of spare clothes, many accidents, false signals, kept a potty chair in the trunk and multiple potties accessible in the house.

One night, I put spray tan on her favorite character design underwear and put them on her favorite stuff toy. I commanded she toss both in the garbage as they were dirty. I then put her in a pull-up diaper of a character design she did not like. That night my non verbal wall flower decided she was going to fully potty train herself instantly and removed the pull up without accident. In the morning she advocated for a clean pair for her and stuff toy. Her favorite sensory thing has since changed so as the things that use to overwhelm her. She is reaching milestones and working thru new setbacks. But I felt my baby girl fight those 9 months to be born and I see her fighting to overcome life’s challenges.  She has taught me patience, loud stimming love without a care of whose judging, and to find my backbone and own voice in advocating for her.”
