NICU Welcome Kits
Transitioning from round-the-clock care in the NICU to home can be one of the most overwhelming and frightening times for new parents.
Our “Welcome to our C.I.T.Y.” program was developed specifically for brand-new parents whose newborn has been referred for therapy, especially following a NICU stay.
We create gift bags for families being discharged from hospitals across Chicagoland congratulating them on the birth of their child, introducing them to local resources, and welcoming them to our supportive community.
Learning about C.I.T.Y. of Support’s large, local network of parents and professionals can provide comfort, reduce feelings of isolation, and increase accessibility to information and encouragement.
In 2023, C.I.T.Y. volunteers assembled
500 welcome kits
each containing resources, a welcome card, parent letter, board book, and small gifts for new parents.
